event: capfabb meet-up at madewell

this past tuesday, i attended my first capfabb meet-up at madewell in georgetown. it was fun, fun, fun.

capfabb, an organization uniting fashion and beauty bloggers in the dc area, was started in february 2011 by lacey maffettone of a lacey perspective & liz fassbender of so much to smile about. the group currently has over 300 members.

check out gokateshoot's recap of the night, because dear lord knows i am no photographer.

Top 5 Reasons That We ♥ aliceanna (And So Will You!)

We've just set up our Pop-Up Shop featuring Maryland-based up-and-comer aliceanna! We know you are going to love welcoming this label into your wardrobe and here's why--

1. aliceanna designer Patrice Gentile makes retro-inspired modern bombshell glamour easy (!) and accessible for everyday. Flirty and sophisticated details like ruffled sleeves and cutouts are infused into comfortable pieces crafted in natural fibers, elevating the everyday to a new level of easy-breezy-fabulous!

2. One of the highlights of the collection is the gorgeous, versatile, and easy-to-wear dresses – the antidote to the “I don’t have anything to wear” syndrome that happens to even the most stylish ladies. We love this super-flattering silhouette in burnt sienna – perfect for so many occasions.

3. aliceanna’s pieces have timeless appeal: perfectly on-trend but never too trendy. Look for au courant touches of colorblocking, stripes, and tribal prints on beautifully tailored quality items that will be in heavy wardrobe rotation for years to come.

4. Since even the most ladylike among us need to cut loose sometimes…hello mile-long gams! aliceanna’s collection features adorable short-shorts and rompers that are long on sex appeal. Feeling a little timid about showcasing your stems? Try the romper belted with a long grandpa cardigan. Va-Va-Voom!

5. Just like Nana, Gentile’s line pays homage to her matriarchs. The collection takes its title from a coupling of her grandmothers’ names (Alice + Anna = aliceanna), and draws inspiration from their easy-glamorous sense of style, travel, and film. Says Gentile, “The aliceanna lady is intelligent & vivacious; she evokes confidence & femininity.” We love that!

Come see for yourself why aliceanna has made such an impression on us – and join us for the culminating Meet the Designer event on January 26th, 5-7:30PM. Your closet will thank you!

yesterday, nana boutique posted 'top 5 reasons that we <3 aliceanna' on their blog; i have to admit my cheeks are still burning from it.

jackie & her staff are amazing. it is evident they are passionate about fashion and they do a great job at promoting local talent, which i am grateful for.

thanks again to jackie, daisy, and the rest of the ladies at nana.

lovin': le mos

i think it's awesome when you stumble upon a young, new designer.

that being said, i think it is super awesome when said designer is a colleague of yours.

i was introduced to le mos awhile back by my friend, dusty. he and i attended college with the talented jessica brasfield, designer of le mos jewelry.

jessica designs truly bad-ass jewelry; striking statement pieces that stand out on their own, as well as pieces that are great for layering up. there is whole lotta 90s fem rock influence going on.

so when i was on the hunt for the perfect gold pinky ring (the italian in me talkin'), my search stopped at le mos. i really love my epic pinky ring (worn in above photo). it can also be worn above the top knuckle, layered with another ring.

next piece that i'm eyeing up is the billie choker, in gold, of course.

check out le mos here, and go like em' on facebook while you're at it.
